about us

Jennifer Matthews, visual therapist

jennresized

Jennifer isn’t joining us so much as rejoining us as we all worked together on brands like Audi, NASDAQ, Qwest Communications and Southern Comfort a few years ago. Most recently, Jenn created and ran a design group at another agency in town.  And, yes, since you were wondering, Jennifer can play the banjo.

Doug Kleeman, recon op

dougresized

Doug started his career at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky working on Old Navy, Kraft, Microsoft, Baby Carrots (Bolthouse Farms) and Lucky’s Market. He also worked at The Martin Agency strategizing and concepting mobile and digital integrations for Pizza Hut.

Paul Tuorto, renaissance man

paulresized

Before coming to Baldwin&, Paul designed for clients like Chrysler, Kodak, Alienware, UNC Sports, and Motorola. He is also an accomplished food writer, photographer, athlete, cook, musician and surfer. Love food? So does Paul, check out his food blog here.

Cameron Vann, fire juggler

cameroncroppedsmaller1

Cameron actually started her advertising career in High School with an internship at NY agency The Eliran Murphy Group. Before a short stint at McKinney, she also spent a decade as a competitive horseback rider so she knows about commitment and how to leap over any problem to get to the right solution. Not a bad trait in an account person.

Tonya Martin, mixologist

tonya-cropped

With over 15 years in project management Tonya likes to run. Both literally and metaphorically (she has 3 half marathons under her belt so far and an 18 month old. Talk about running.) She knows how to manage the mix of the greatness/reality/time/budget impossibility continuum.

Hayley Reaver, the comet

hayleysmaller

Hayley has been a copywriter at traditional retail agencies and also at an interactive only shop and so comes with a holistic range of experience. She’s worked on everything from GE and Simmons Beauty Rest to package goods brands like Hungry Jack, Hoover and Smuckers.

Shaun Sundholm, sous chef

shaun-sundholm

Yikes, another musician, or as we like to say, a perfectly rounded creative person. Shaun was formerly lead singer for the band, The Deadlines, an accomplished photographer and also a digital Art Director/designer at Wieden & Kennedy and McKinney, Shaun has experience on big brands like Nike, Starbucks, Old Spice Target, and EAS Sports Nutrition.

Barbara Wittig, coach

barbcropped

Can she do a double back flip? Check. Has she run a marathon in the rain? Yep. Barbara is one of those people that gets things done all the while moving the people around forward as well, maybe because she loves to lead a team and be a part of it at the same time. Previous to Baldwin& she was a project manager and account person at McKinney and also worked on the client side for a bit.

Jerry Bodrie, superconductor

jerrycroppedsm

Not your typical suit, Jerry is our kind of account guy. He digs-in, learning everything he can about the product, the brand, the customer and the category because he knows that we can’t do our business if we don’t know your business. He contributes at every stage of the process, and he can foster a meeting of the minds without threat of abacination. As a leader on the team that tripled Audi’s business when the automotive press had already pronounced the brand dead, Jerry is always up for a challenge.

Bob Ranew, day dreamer

bobcropped

Bob can do anything. He’s one of those guys. He’s an amazing illustrator, Photographer, Art Director, Designer and even an early online Viral Pioneer. (Click here to see Bob Ranew and Grant Pace’s spot for Smart Beep, Blind date on youtube. You’ll see why teenagers signed up in droves for the service.) Bob has won every award there is to win but is maybe most proud of setting sales records 6 years in a row for Audi when he was a creative director at McKinney.

Jennifer Barresi, relationship counselor

jenn1

Jennifer has made great use of her psychology major at Oneonta State University by creating new and innovative ways to engage consumers. In fact, she viewed media as a creative discipline long before it was en vogue. Her impact has been felt the most on Audi, Polaris Industries, Southern Comfort, Qwest and Volvo Trucks. Her work has been consistently recognized for both creativity and effectiveness. Two things Jenn believes go hand in hand.

Dave Alsobrooks, human interests activist

alsobrooks

Dave splits his time between advertising and fine art. He was showing works in a number of mediums from Charlotte to Chicago to New York and London when he realized he was still merely solving communication problems in creative ways. What he realized, too, was he missed solving the problems of other people. You see Dave has a bleeding heart for brands in need — and dogs, paper samples and custom sneakers.

Dan Carlton, director of common sense

dan2

Dan is bright. In fact, he’s one of the smartest guys we’ve ever worked with. He started his career with strategic planning jobs at Fallon Minneapolis and then McKinney in Durham, NC, where he became the youngest VP in the company’s 35 year history. Dan has become one of the most awarded strategists of the past few years, winning best newcomer at the Jay Chiat Planning Awards.

Dan also has a company called the Paragraph Project.

Molly McKinley, mother of invention

molly

Molly is a product launching, PR driving machine. Her career is chock-full of product launches, brand launches, non-profit launches and even artist launches. She lives by the credo that “Everything great starts as somebody’s daydream.” She’s lead over 60 product launches in corporate, consumer and technology PR. She also co-owns her own brands, Happikins and Luckybug leading her to be featured on Oprah as an official Mompreneur.

our experience

logos2

We are not content to just be a local agency. Even though we’re in Raleigh/Durham, NC, we have a national footprint and maybe more importantly a national mindset. Even when dealing with local clients we think big.  And most of our experience is on real, big brands with tough problems to solve. From NY to LA, to Germany, Sweden and the UK, and yes, even the Triangle, we’ve worked with great clients who value what we do and believe in the power of great ideas.

Shawn Covely, digital sherpa

shawn

Shawn is a Producer. Special emphasis on the cap ‘p.’ He has tons of interactive experience, producing and managing the production of micro sites, online advertising, widgets, social media, and email for clients such as Audi of America, Sony, Mitsubishi Motors, Southern Comfort, Universal Studios, and Seagram. But he’s also produced his own environmental magazine, Footprint. He’s especially talented at bridging the gap between teams, programmers and clients throughout the entire production process.
