The trucking industry has been built by road cowboys, where the toughest, rowdiest, dirtiest, torque-iest truck and driver win the day. This longstanding legacy, however, has also slowed the industry’s path toward innovation and modernization. 

But Volvo has never really bought into that stereotype — they’ve always been about innovating luxury trucks to lead the industry. With a new crop of drivers who see the world through more progressive eyes, Volvo wanted to appeal to the “drivers of the future.” 

We knew we needed to shift the conversation from innovating trucks today to driving the future of transportation for tomorrow. And, in doing so, bring to life the category-shattering technological art that each and every Volvo truck is.

Did you know that by 2040 Volvo will be a 100% carbon neutral company and that they already boast the largest fleet of electric trucks in the country? We were more than happy to be a part of helping to spread the word with swoon-worthy content to drive (pun intended) the point home.

What kind of truck wouLD a truck driver truck if a truck driver could truck trucks?

Most trucks are designed by engineers isolated in a laboratory. We helped Volvo work with influencer Joel Morrow, a real trucker with over 4.5 million miles on the road, to create a truck that gets maximum fuel efficiency, even at top speeds. The result was “No Compromise,” a content series that shows off the new Volvo I-Torque as it sets a new bar for the industry. The social campaign rolled out with over 30 social posts and cutdowns across Meta, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

WORST HIDING PLACE EVER.

To build buzz for Volvo newest VNL line of long-haul semi trucks, we decided to take a bit of an unconventional approach. Stripping it of all its brand markers, we parked that sucker right in the middle of a high-traffic rest stop with no context except the hashtag #WhatTheTruck. And, boy, did that get people talking. 

The film was shared across Instagram, Reddit, Facebook and YouTube, and leveraged a top-notch trucker influencer, Alex Nino (2.3 million followers on TikTok), to help get the word out.

We then launched the VNL with a strategic media mix across all major social platforms (FB, IG, TT, LI, X, Threads, YT Shorts) and featured small interactive elements to help drive engagement, such as screenshot-able wallpapers, interactive Instagram stories, a 3-image grid takeover.

We redefined Volvo’s look and feel: making sure that ever single innovative feature that’s built into every Volvo truck is always on display, from aerodynamic design to industry-leading fuel-efficiency and sustainability to driver-centric comfort. With new location selections, lighting guidelines, and overall color palettes, we’re amping up the innovation storytelling on social and bringing Volvo’s committed trucker audience along for the ride.
